Here’s a list of 5 things that are contributing to my personal contentment at the moment:

1. My 5-year-old is really into rhyming.

IMG_3332Up until this morning, he had managed to avoid anything profane (he doesn’t tend to rhyme anything with “truck,” thank heavens), but an hour ago, he uttered the phrase, “Put it back on the kitchen-bitchin’ table,” and I almost shot my sparkling peach lemonade out my nose. Thank you for that, buddy.

2.  Folded laundry.

IMG_3329Wait, did I just say that laundry makes me happy? Answer: absolutely. With three small children, a brand-spankin’-new blog to post some sort of drivel on 5 out of 7 days a week, house projects to finish, dinner to cook, exercise classes to teach, and a husband I really like spending time with, cleaning feels like so much necessary torture.

Except laundry.

It’s my zen chore—the PERFECT way of feeling productive while expending absolutely zero brainpower and almost as little physical effort.

Putting laundry away…does not make me happy.

3.  Skinny Cow’s new (to me) ice cream sandwich flavor:

Cookies ‘n Cream,

…which I usually don’t love but, for some reason, find “simply irresistible” (can someone please clue me in on the significance of the line, “She’s so fine, there’s no tellin’ where the money went?” Are we talking undetectable plastic surgery, getting away with a bank robbery because of distracting prettiness?…I just don’t get it).

4. Mini-rosebuds in the perfect shades of sunshine and blush in a new $3 vase.

5.  Love Has Spoken, Grace Community Church’s new worship cd.

I am so proud of my home church and fellow worship team members for creating a truly worshipful project that I just can’t stop listening to. I’m not singing on this one, but one of the electric guitars you hear wailing in the background…yeah, that’s my big bro, Shae (she says with her chest puffed out with pride).

My faves are “Counting on God” and “Desert Song.”

Fantastic job, Jon Jenz and Co.! To God be the glory!!

**By the way, if you’re interested in checking it out, you can find it on cdbaby.com here or from the church website here (you have to create an account, but it’s pretty painless).  Also, itunes or amazon (although I’ve had zero luck searching for either Love Has Spoken or Grace Worship on amazon; I’ll keep you posted if I figure it out).

OH, and if this post had been labeled “6 things,” then my 6th would have been the feature that Nina of Momma Go Round did here of my Wardrobe Wednesday this week on her Real Mommas, Real Style segment! Thanks, Nina!

That’s it for me today, kids, but I’ll be recommending a fun weekend flick tomorrow as well as linking up my week of Summer in Snapshots, so come back tomorrow for a movie and a collage!

  1. Love the list. My little brother used to say, “itchy-bitchy” about ant bites, etc. Still makes me laugh when I think about it!
What’s making me happy RIGHT now? Snuggling with an almost-eight-month old. I am sure you can identify. 🙂

  2. Why, Jon Jenz, you silver-tongued devil…THANK YOU! : ) I’m glad you like it. I know I sure enjoy writing it. And thanks for tweeting about me. I’ve still yet to figure out Twitter, even though I signed up for an account, but I’m sure that’s a good thing (the tweeting…not the fact that I haven’t figured it out).

  3. What’s boosting my happiness meter right now is THIS BLOG! Thanks for sharing. This is a really great blog…and I just tweeted about it. Well done.

I love hearing from you guys!
