We’ve drop-kicked Monday to the curb, so now it’s time for…

TRY-IT TUESDAY: It’s time to get creative and productive! Each Tuesday, I’ll share a new project with you—some simple, 5 minute fare, as well as some week-long (or more) projects—which you’re welcome to give a whirl if the mood strikes you.

You’ve already seen the finished product of today’s little project on my first Wardrobe Wednesday post (see the picture of the first outfit in the post), and today I’m going to show you how to make one for yourself.

What you’ll need: 1) As many rolled flowers as you’d like to group together in whatever size you want {for an easy, step-by-step tutorial on how to make these little guys, go here}. 2) A glue gun (and glue…*ahem*…check, check…just seeing if you’re all still with me), 3) Felt (I just used craft felt), 4) brooch pins (safety pins would work, but I find the flat base of the brooch pins—which I got at my local fabric store—much more stable/easier to work with).

Position your flowers however you want (I play around with mine until I like them, and then I actually hold them up to something to see if the configuration works with the item they’ll be pinned to), apply a dab of glue to the back of the ones that will be on top, hold them in place for a few seconds, and…

Voila! You have the pretty part of your little corsage ready to go!

Next, you’ll need to cut a small piece of felt to act as a base for your flowers.

Glue your felt base onto the back of the corsage, and trim any excess felt that pokes its ugly little head out from underneath (poor felt…so maligned and unappreciated).

Glue your brooch pin securely to the back of your felt (I find that it’s usually best to place the pin near the top of the corsage to avoid the much-dreaded “flop-over” effect), and…

What do we have here? Something pretty to pin it to!

I used this tutorial to make this fun little fabric wallet (can you tell I love me some Jones Design Company?).  The only modifications I made were to sew instead of fuse my fabrics together because I didn’t have any fusible webbing (this will make sense once you check out the tutorial, which I strongly recommend that you do), enlarge the size of the template (the brilliant suggestion of my friend, Mandy, who posted about her fabric wallet here) to make mine the size of a small wallet (the original template is meant for a gift card = teensy), and add a ribbon-tie closure.
So, here’s the really great part!  I’m give this little sweetie away to one lucky girl!
Yay!
And really, it’s a two-for-one giveaway too, since—if you recall—we attached our flower corsage with a pin…which MEANS that you can take it off and attach it to your favorite belt, sweater, or… like I did…

…smack a flower or two on a pacifier tether I made the other night for the world’s sweetest little girl.
Agh! Can you stand the cuteness?!!

  1. I would put my ID, debit card, and pictures of my favorite people in this adorable wallet! This is such a cute idea. I will definitely be making rosettes for Olive.

  2. Super duper cute! I am trying to ‘tap’ into my crafty abilities. This was a good inspiration and a nice place to start. That wallet could hold what little bit of change I have around 🙂 AND go nicely with my current purse.

  4. Shared it on facebook 🙂
Being a poor college student, I’m learning to keep track of my money better by keeping up with all my receipts. Of course they end up wadded up in my purse…So, I would use it as a place to put my receipts! And hopefully learn to organize a little bit!

  6. So cute. You are so creative. I think I would use it as a jewelry holder for when I go to Body Pump 🙂

  7. So cute abby especially on your baby model:)
I’d put pictures of my precious children;who deserve a better resting place than my dresser drawer, a few dollars and my debit card.

  8. Really cute. I am trying to find my creative niche. We’ll see if I can do this. I love the one you made. I think I’d be traditional and add it to a yellow cardigan that I have. You could add alligator clips to them and make shoe clips as well. Loving the blog Abbie!

I love hearing from you guys!
