Whoop! It’s that time again!

Thrifted or Grifted is back, baby!

So, what is it?

Thrifted or Grifted is the fashion game where you test your thrifting savvy by deciding whether an outfit is:

A) 100% Thrifted: (adj.)—previously loved and therefore ridiculously cheap…aka Secondhand

OR

B) 100% Grifted: (adj.)—swindled or cheated…aka Retail

(Disclaimer: No, I don’t actually think that you’re getting ripped off every time you pay retail, but I do believe that if you can’t tell the difference, you shouldn’t have to pay for it).

I’ve already admitted that I can be a touch competitive (my husband is choking right now), and if you’ve been following along for a while, then you know that you guys have a (tiny) lead since a 51% majority correctly guessed the thrifted outfit last time.

The stakes are higher than ever! (Meaning: I’m feeling even more determined to “win” than ever, since there aren’t any actual “stakes” in this game).

Also, I got to wear not one but two pairs of boots. Not that the two are related, but I just had to point out that, it may have taken until the dad-gum middle of October, but we actually got a day chilly enough for boot-wearing without the risk of heat rash.

End tangent.

So…which is it?

Exhibit A

Or

Exhibit B:

And yes, I realize that I have my hands on my hips and an elbow jutting out in every picture. What can I say? I’m not a very good poser (I’m a little better than I used to be, but when I first started all this monkey fashion business, I felt like an absolute doofus no matter what I did with my various appendages), and when I can’t figure out what to do with my hands, my hips seem like as good a place as any to prop them. They’re there, aren’t they? Might as well use them!

Which outfit is Thrifted?

I would love it if you leave me a comment explaining why you voted the way you did! The commenter I find most entertaining will receive an automatic 5 free entries into The October Giveaway.

P.S. Don’t forget that tomorrow is our 3rd Five Things Thursday Linky Party, and the theme is:

Sweet Things

lemon pie

(A picture of pie fits, obviously, but you can interpret the theme however you choose).

Hope to see you there!

  1. so I’m late to the game this week Abbie. But I just wanted to say you have great taste when it comes to fashion! I also have the dress from exhibit A! makes a perfect fall outfit with a cardigan and riding boots:)

  2. Ok, so I picked B as the thrifted outfit…because…I think I recognize that belt from another thrifted outfit. I might be slightly addicted to your thrify awesomeness! And…I might be a little jealous that my local GW hasn’t had a similar belt because I have been in love with this one since I saw it before.
p.s. If my guess is wrong, then my memory must be worse than I thought! 🙂

  3. A. You say you’re determined to win? So I think that A is cuter and has a higher end look while B has more of a put together look. Thus B would be thrifted. BUT you said you were going to win, so you probably did that on purpose. I say A is thrifted.

  4. Stopped by from WIWW, love the second outfit…I’m going to guess that is the thrifted one. It looks so “vintagy”(yep it’s a word cuz I made it up)! And, this may be silly, but I think it is much cuter than the first outfit and so must be the one you want us to like more. Overthinking much? 😉

  5. I have no idea. I am going with A because that is my fist impression and last time I didn’t go with my first impression and was wrong.

  6. I picked A as the thrifted outfit because eyelits say thifted to me. Of course, the same can be said for lace. Hum…I’m sticking to my guns on A being thrifted and I guess I have to say it’s a gut thing since I just said both say thrifted and both styles are (were?) in style last (this) season.

  7. I’m falling out over outfit B. It’s amazing. So “Anthro” and ladylike and spot on with the trends and dang you look good in it. It’s totally the thrifted outfit. You’d never spend how much that outfit would cost new (unless you were shopping at Bloom, am I right?!)

  8. First off, both outfits are ADOABLE! Second off you are a cutie patutie in both of them. I believe the first outfit was the thrifted one because of the boots. And why you ask? Because I know you are not only a thrifter but also a deal getting, sale and clearance nut as well. I think the boots in the first picture are way to expensive for you to justify buying retail so therefore they must have been thrifted. The second pair of boots which are equally cute in their own right, look to me to be of lesser quality so you were able to buy them retail, sale, deal or clearance.

  9. I voted for exhibit B because there are WAY to many moving parts for you to have been able to bring yourself to pay retail that many times. I just don’t think you could bring yourself to do that.

  10. Hello! I thought exhibit A was thrifted, because it is much simpler and less accessorized. I know I wouldn’t want to buy a headband from a thrift store (because I’m paranoid about getting lice! haha), so I am self-centeredly assuming that you wouldn’t either. Plus the boots in exhibit B seem newer to me. Also, the dress in exhibit A seems to fit a bit tighter in the chest which also makes me think it’s thrifted, as I know I am more likey to spend money at a thrift store on something that doesn’t fit perfectly, as opposed to spending more on a brand new item in retail if it fits a little bit snug.
I love your outfit in exhibit B, with that delicate lace skirt and satin headband! Genious to pair lace and eyelet with boots!

  11. B has got to be thrifted, it’s really pretty but it just looks thrifted.. you know? In a nice way though! A, looks more “new” and high end to me, but B looks like it’s a bit of an older style. Also, dresses are usually short in stores now,(depends on where you shop too) and A is shorter than B, just by a teeny tiny bit.

  12. My theory so far seems to be correct; the thrifted outfits always fit you better. I am thinking this is because you probably alter them more or are just more picky when choosing them. So, based on that, I think A is thrifted. You look a little too swallowed up in B. I think you are trying to hard to fool us with all the pieces in B.

  13. Hi: I said that A is thrifted because of the belt and the black suede boots. Although you might be tricking us because B has so many pieces that it suggests that it is thrifted. So, now I”m not so sure. But that’s your point, isn’t it, girlie? 🙂

  14. I love outfit B. So I picked that as the nifty thrifty. Because you’re tricky like that and usually wear what I consider to be the more stunning ensemble when you are fully thrifted. LOVE that skirt in B. I was checking out the heels on the boots as well and trying to get a clue there … but sadly I’m not to up to date in the fashion world so while I can tell that they are different, it didn’t do much to clue me in. And the hands look just fine on the hips, girlfriend! Especially with those toned arms bared.

  15. Ok, I pick A because B looks like you got it in a cute little boutique and A looks a little more retro – although A looks like it fits really well so maybe I am wrong. They are both SUPER CUTE though!!!

  16. I picked that Outfit A was thrifted. I agree that the second outfit does have that assembled over time look, but it is also a lace dress, which is very much the in thing this season. Either way, you look cute in both looks! 🙂

  17. truely, i can NEVER tell, so i just always pick the opposite of what i picked last time, lol! your outfits all look amazing and i can never see anything that would sway me one way or another.

  18. Alright…so I looked at them both and thought that Exhibit B looked old and “antiquey” (if that really is a word). And you, Ms Competitive, like to play with our minds. So, I picked A because you are tricky like that!!!! 🙂 Exhibit A is my favorite though, but I’m really not a fan of the belt…although you look beautiful in all the pictures you post on here!!! (Jealous!!!)

  19. Lace and leather-what a fun combo! I went with B because it just has a more eclectic put-together-over-time look that seems thrifted to me.

  20. Wow, I LOVE! exhibit B! Which is why I voted for exhibit A. I just don’t like the belt that much and I think the belt doesn’t exactly match the boots as it does in exhibit A.
Both outfits look fantastic on you, though.

I love hearing from you guys!
