If you’re up to your eyeballs in gift-wrap and dreading yet another foray into the insanity that is Christmas traffic, have I got the perfect procrastination method for you!

Thrifted or Grifted!

…the fashion game where you test your thrifting savvy by deciding whether an outfit is:

A) 100% Thrifted: (adj.)—previously loved and therefore ridiculously cheap…aka Secondhand

OR

B) 100% Grifted: (adj.)—swindled or cheated…aka Retail

…and then you vote and leave me comments telling why you chose the one you did!

(Disclaimer: No, I don’t actually think that you’re getting ripped off every time you pay retail, but I do believe that if you can’t tell the difference, you shouldn’t have to pay for it).

If you’re a Thrifted or Grifted veteran, then you know the drill—press your nose up against your screen and scour each outfit for telltale signs of thriftedness (ignore the wrinkles!) and then comment away telling me why you chose which one you did.

The commenter I find most entertaining (oh yeah! It’s as subjective as they come!) will get 5 free entries into our Shabby Apple Jewelry Giveaway! (Have you checked it out yet?)

Let’s get to it, shall we?

Is it…

Exhibit A

OR…

Exhibit B

By the way, that big spot on my jeans is NOT a stain (yup, I knew you were eyeing it!). It’s water that spilled from my iron as I attempted to purge the wrinkles from my jeans…just for you guys. Hey! I did try!

And yes, I realize that it’s December 21st, and I’m wearing open-toed shoes.

And yes, two days ago, it was 70 degrees, and this would have been fine.

But I have to admit that by the time I got inside, my tootsies were pretty chilly.

The sacrifices I make for you guys! : )

Which outfit is 100% thrifted?

Happy guessing, and don’t forget to join me back here tomorrow for:

five days five ways | 5 Things Thursday

The theme is (what else?):

big wonder

  1. This series you do is one of the most unique and entertaining things I have seen blogging. I have spent time going back to check each one! Bravo! Love this fun little game!

  2. i didn’t think i could love what you are all about any more but that water spot (and the fact that you used that pic anyway) proved me wrong. I’m going with “A” as the thrifted outfit. You look smashing in both, though.

  3. Thanks for popping by Isaboo Designs, your blog is so adorable! Now following! I could really not tell which one is thrifted but if it’s not #1, please tell me where to get the shoes! Or better yet, both pairs…and the shrug…wishing I didn’t have such big shoulders…oh and the nose piercing is doing great, I need a much more awesome pic of it 😉

  4. Thanks for stopping by today! 🙂 I love your blog!

Let’s see…first off you are beautiful and I want both of these outfits!

    I think the thrifted outfit is….drum roll please….AHEM!…..::crickets::…..hmmm…. #1.

I had a hard time picking because both shirts look like items I have seen out in the stores…but the shoes and jacket feel a bit more vintage to me! I’m going with it!

    What a fun game!

  5. I’m going with A as the thrifted option. All of the cardigans in the stores right now seem to be looooong like the one in B so it has me thinking that B is the new, non-thrifted version. It’s a close one this time. I know you are cackling with glee at having us flummoxed and fooled!

  6. Aren’t you just as CUTE as a BUTTON!!!! love the Second Combination….. But really your just Adorable so they’re both GREAT!!! 🙂

  7. I picked B.. I thought the jeans in A were too crisp and clean to be thrifted, but as noted below, there is some wear in on the end of the A jeans. I may have been fooled! How fun! I’m so glad you popped by so I could discover You! -m-

  8. I picked A, I love the shrug on this outfit! Both outfits are Fabulous by the way! Thanks for checking out my blog, I’m your newest follower 🙂

  9. I’m thinkin’ A…I’ve hunted for jackets like that in stores and can only find them thrifted. Love your style and have no idea how I just started following you today.

  10. I’m probably totally wrong on my guess (I picked B), but I picked it simply because I really like your shrug/jacket and I’m hoping it’s available in stores somewhere and not thrifted.:)

  11. As with Susan, I am pretty much always wrong – but I went with A this time. There’s just something about that shrug that says “thrifted” to me…and I know if anyone can find shoes that cute at the thrift store it’s you.

  12. Wow! I voted B, really for no good reason because I am always wrong and you always look great no matter what! 🙂 I love the jeans in both outfits, but especially A, you can’t beat the seam down the front like that! I’m sure you will tell us where everything is from, right? 🙂

  13. I love your blog! I came over to reciprocate your visit to our blog and I was WOW’ed! Your entries are so fun and the design of your blog is fantastic. So unique and personal. We really need to work on that. I’m so impressed! I’m going to recommend this blog to my friends. I bet they would enjoy it too.

Btw, we are following you back. Looking forward to more of your entries.

    Happy Holidays!

  14. It was so difficult to guess! They both look branded or you just presended it really well! Thanks for the visit and follow! It is nice to meet and find another great blog!! I’m now your new follower 🙂

  15. So i voted A then changed my mind to B because the sweater looks slightly slumpy(try saying that fast five times!). You always look awesome in whatever you wear and your nails are always done-WOW what a gal!

  16. I’m horrible at guessing, but I love, love, love both pairs of jeans. Can’t wait to hear where they are from! OR if you want to send them to me:) Haha. Merry Christmas!

  17. I choose outfit B because of the spot on the jeans…right front thigh. Looks like you might have spilled water on your leg. Maybe that is all it is….but maybe not.

  18. Ok. I chose ‘A’ for thrifted based on the fact that, while the jeans in outfit ‘B’ seem to be distressed (on purpose) there are no signs of wear & tear on the bottom, and yet the jeans in ‘A’ are almost immaculate except for that last photograph with the shoes, which shows obvious signs of wear around the back edge. This indicates that they have been previously worn, probably by someone just slightly shorter than you, or someone more prone to flat shoes. And that is my conclusion. 🙂

I love hearing from you guys!
