(Fair warning: Many, many pictures to come.).

Last Saturday, our family struck out into the wilds of Broken Bow, Oklahoma.

And a whopping 4 1/2 hours later (including the inevitable stops one must make for food and potty with three small children on board), we arrived at our cabin, ready to fish, hike, collect bugs, and just generally show Grizzly Adams a thing or two.

Yesterday was my husband’s birthday, and he’s an outdoorsy sort, so I figured this kind of trip would be just the thing.

So, how many hikes did we take while were there?

Zero.

Fish caught (or even attempted)?

None.

Bugs collected?

Zilch (incredibly enough).

So, what did we do?

Well, we played games, watched copious amounts of “How It’s Made” and “House Crashers,” roasted s’mores and hotdogs, relaxed in the hot-tub, took naps, and ate.

In our defense, at home, we have three TV channels, and we don’t watch them, so HGTV was a pretty stinkin’ big treat!

Of course, there was also some hammock-time:

Some silly faces:

Some ghetto fashion shows:

Some snuggling:

(No, I did not stage this picture, and yes I do big fat love it)

Some cake-making:

and…

Some pure unadulterated cuteness:

Oh, and when we got home, I had my lovely new Hope is The Thing necklace c/o Lisa Leonard waiting for me in the mailbox (wooohooo!).

So, of course, I had to show you guys that, as well.

{P.S. If you’re wondering what-in-the-world kind of cake gets smashed to bits before consumption, head over to our facebook page where I’ve posted the recipe. Feel free to press “like” while you’re there : )}.

{P.P.S. As usual, my outfits are a mishmash of super-clearance items and thrifted stuff, but if you’re interested in: a) the floral maxi from outfit 1 b) the navy/fuchsia peasant top from outfit 2, and/or c) the lacy cream tank from outfit 3, I got all three of them on deep clearance at American Eagle last week. The long, ruffled cardi from outfit 3 is from Sam’s Club, believe it or not}.

{P.P.P.S. : ) My post for tomorrow is probably the hardest one I’ve ever had to write. If you’re a praying sort, I’m asking right now that you get after it}.

For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the first principles of the oracles of God; and you have come to need milk and not solid food. For everyone who partakes only of milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, for he is a babe. But solid food belongs to those who are of full age, that is, those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil. Hebrews 5:12-14

May you be encouraged today! I am sure the your post will be solid food full of fruit!

I love hearing from you guys!
