Phew!

364 cupcakes and 360 chocolate dipped strawberries done.

One dead phone that refused to charge at home and therefore didn’t get the message that I needed to cover a class until I was already in the car (and where was my MUSIC?? Not in my purse like it was supposed to be!).

30 minutes to deliver the cargo, find music, and make it to the gym in school-time traffic.

Three pans of cupcakes that caved in on themselves after surviving the van ride just fine. : (

Several very nice fellow instructors who saved my music-less tushy.

Two sweaty exercise classes.

One thoughtful husband who had bought dinner without any prompting from me and suggested that we take it to the park with the kids.

Yummy Thai food.

One happy pregnant belly.

Three happy kids.

Two slide-runs and 4 swing-pushes.

One sudden downpour and a race with three even happier kids back to the van.

BED!

All of which makes me very happy that today’s Try-it Tuesday is of the super-simple variety.

After all, what could be easier than dunking strawberries in chocolate sauce?

Not much, that’s what.

Still, if you think like I used to, you may have an idea in your head that chocolate covered strawberries must have some secret ingredient or technique since they are, after all, sort of delicacies and all.

(Have you seen what they charge for them at the store?)

You may picture saucepans and heavy whipping cream and specialty chocolates.

Yeah, not so much.

In fact, there are not one two whole whopping ingredients to the way I make mine, and they’re far from secret.

They are:

STRAWBERRIES

and

CHOCOLATE FLAVORED ALMOND BARK

That’s it!

And here’s what you do:

    • Melt an entire block of almond bark in a large, microwave-safe bowl for 3 minutes. When you take it out, it will look like this:

    • Give it a stir or two, and it will instantly become this:

    • Give your strawberry a 360º dip in the vat of sugary, chocolatey(ish) goodness…

    • Set it out on a clean surface to dry

I used aluminum foil, and it took all of three minutes for each strawberry to dry. And when I lifted them up off the foil, they didn’t stick, smear, or flake a bit.

Seriously.

World’s Easiest Chocolate Covered Strawberries.

It took me about 3 hours to do my 350+, but that’s mostly because I was stopping to take pictures, change diapers (I washed my hands…I’m pretty sure), and help the boys with their schoolwork.

You could whip out an impressive batch of these ridiculously simple treats for your next shower or party or even arrange them prettily in a basket for a decadent picnic treat or birthday gift, and people will think, “Ooooooh. Chocolate covered strawberries! Look at all the trouble she went to to make my day special.”

And you’ll just nod and smile angelically and keep your lips buttoned.

Right?

Don’t go blabbing on me now, or everybody I give mine to will know just how little effort I really put into their gift!

And the best part?

That explosion of strawberry juice and chocolate when you take your first bite!

What about you?

What’s your favorite easy dessert?

  1. What? I had no idea it was that easy either! Do you find Almond Bark in the baking aisle? This is such a sweet idea for a special dessert with my hubs.

  2. So sorry to torture you with yummy food! And FOUR weeks? Wow, you’re getting close. (I’m a bit jelly…is that what you say there in Australia or I’m I totally off base? : )).

    Hope your party is grand!

Oh, and almond bark…yeah. I never know what can be found from one continent to the next, but it’s just a mixture of a bunch of bad for you things that resembles chocolate (or whatever it’s claiming to mimic) but has super-easy melting ability, and super-quick hardening qualities.

  3. Abbbiiiiieeeee! Now you are making my preggie self hungry! And what is Almond Bark? I’ve never seen it in Australia. I’m so going to have to google it. Any catering when you are pregnant takes effort. Get yourself a wonder woman suit! 🙂 I’m having a few family and friends over this weekend in last ditch effort at socialising before our baby arrives (in about 4 weeks!). I really wanted to do a red and white theme with a touch of lemon, so the strawberries are looking mighty good!!!

  4. Did you know that you can melt your almond bark in a crockpot? Works great for large quantities and keeps the coating warm (in case you leave too long for a diaper change). 😉

  5. I love how easy they are to make and oh, so yummy! I also melt a little white chocolate bark and drizzle over the finished product — they look so gourmet and people are totally wowed! We’ll keep the simplicity as our little secret though. 😉

  6. Yummmm…

My favorite super easy desert is fruit and cream cheese dip.

Especially when I buy the dip from the grocery store and transfer it to a bowl. But at least I put the fruit on skewers, right?

I love hearing from you guys!
