Every now and then, it’s just fun to dream a little about what I would do with more free time.

I do get breaks periodically, but the honest-to-goodness truth is not that I’m not one of those people who gets a lull in the daily grind and immediately hops on Pinterest to see how many of her pinned projects she can knock out in two hours.

No, I’m much more likely to take a rare, kid-free jaunt through Target or read a book or—these days especially—take a nap.

Still, that doesn’t stop me from pinning and bookmarking ideas that really strike my fancy, and, as I was going through the links from last week’s party, several ideas struck me as being ones that I not only think are cool but would actually like to try…some day (dangerous words, those).

Like these crazy-yummy looking Banana Pudding Shots from Live Laugh Rowe.

There’s just something so appealing about desserts in miniature sizes…right up until the moment when your spoon scrapes the bottom a smidge too soon for your taste-buds’ liking.

Still, anything that leaves you wanting more is usually a good thing, right?

(I remember a funny quote from some comedienne or other about not getting what was so fun about Snicker’s tiny “fun-size” candy bars that still makes me grin every time I see a package at the grocery store).

I’m also itching to decorate the handles of some wooden spoons I got a while back, a la these adorable paint + washi tape makeovers from Just Us Four.

I even have plenty of double-sided tape and scrapbook paper left over from my “Getting the Gist of It” place-cards to make my own washi tape, so this may just happen sooner rather than later (also dangerous words).

Also, I was pretty stoked when I saw this awesome insulator coat rack from the never-endingly brilliant Katie of Creatively Living.

Because of our garage add-on, we actually have a mudroom space now, and even though I haven’t had time to do a thing to it yet, I WILL be making one of these (if I can get my hands on some insulators in pretty colors like Katie did).

Seriously, waaaaaaay cooler than some generic coat-rack from the store.

I’m also really into the idea of transforming some fabric from my stash into an easy summertime purse like Etcetorize did (all you need are some embroidery hoops, some hot glue, twine, fabric, needle, thread, and a little time).

And I’m pretty determined to find myself a (working) clunker of a piano with lots of character for the current-craftroom-soon-to-be-music-room and paint it some funky/fantastic color or other, just like Crazy Wonderful did.

Okay, so she stuck with black, but it’s a huge improvement over the original, and it looks so classy with her gray walls, those curtains, and especially those pops of pink.

What I love about all of these projects is that they’re not just nebulous, “that’s cool” ideas but things that I could see really working for me (and my tummy : )).

Will I get to any of them in the next several days (or weeks, even)?

Doubtful.

But a (pregnant) girl can still dream (And boy do I! Crazy stuff, too. Like the time that unicorn was wearing one of my aprons and made dinner for our whole family while doing Riverdance…but I digress).

Any Pinterest (or otherwise) ideas you actually think you might get to in this lifetime?

{You can leave the link in the comments!}

I’d love to be overwhelmed inspired by even more creativity!

P.S. I get the privilege of guest-posting for the entertaining and oh-so-talented Janel of Hating Martha today.

I’m talking about my tips/tricks for decorating on the cheap if you want to check it out!

  1. For every dozen or so things I Pin, I usually have time to actually *try* one, but in my book that’s more than I was doing before I discovered Pinterest so I feel fine with it! Loving the banana pudding shots and am thinking that those could come together in a snap and could easily apply to other flavors on hand. I’m thinking butterscotch with choc curls, vanilla with pineapple, mandarin oranges, and coconut, choc with raspberries and oreos….mmmmm!

    * Digs around in pantry to find box of NOT instant pudding. *
    * Digs around in fridge – would coffee creamer count as sub for half-and-half? *
    * Opens box of Nilla wafers – 2 1/2 broken wafers probably not enough, dang it kids, who left the near-empty box in here! *

*Opens new bottle of wine. *

  2. Oh Abbie, you are so sweet! Your kind words made me smile. I hope you are feeling well enough. If I go through Texas any time in the near future (you just never know with my family), I will bring you a box on insulators. There are a zillion (ok, maybe not that many, but a lot) on my parent’s farm.
    Wishing you a blessed week!

  3. I love love love to do the wooden decorated spoons…. they would cost to much to buy, could be decorated quickly and could be given to friends as gifts… thats three and thats a winner in my books. 🙂

  4. Eeeee!!! Thank you so much Abbie for including my piano in your features! You’re right, I can totally see myself doing all of the things you listed above. To the to-do list I go!

I love hearing from you guys!
