…………………………………………………………..

So, I teased you on Friday about my Easter dress—how I had signed for the package and everything. And I was super-excited to get to wear it. After all, there’s not much out there more exciting than getting new clothes delivered to your door. So, when eShakti contacted me, asking whether I’d like to review one of their pieces, I took a gander at their site and quickly decided my answer was yes.

eShakti is a women’s apparel company with the slogan, “Real fashion for real people.” Most of their items have a 50’s-inspired flair, which is so fun. But the best part is that you can either buy an item just like you see it on their site or choose from a slew of customization options, including tailoring the length, neckline, pockets, and any specific measurements you need tweaked.

I chose this ivory striped sash strapless dress (which comes with removable straps = love) and opted for a standard size, since the measurements for that one were pretty much identical to mine. But I did customize the length from tunic (mid-calf) to above-the-knee. I was a little nervous about how “above-the-knee” it would be, so when I entered my height, I fudged on the tall side, to make sure the skirt would be long enough.

As you can see, they followed my specifications to a “T,” and it was the perfect length.

That big grin there is for how much I love my new dress. The quality is fantastic, with nicely finished seams, lovely fabric, and thick lining.

Plus, there were other great touches like this button detailing in the back:

And pockets! (Which you have the option to have removed if you want).

One of the biggest selling points for me on this particular dress was the sash. It’s removable, but I absolutely adored the mix of colors, especially since I knew I would need some color to offset the ivory dress against my pale, pale, ghosty skin. Which means…it’s staying put.

To say that I was thrilled to have such a pretty dress in just my size delivered to my doorstep is a little like saying women sort of like shoes. Quite the understatement, in other words.

Speaking of which, I even had the perfect shoes to wear with it—the floral heels I wore with my wedding dress.

Alas, there was one small snag in my grand Easter Dress plans, and it had nothing to do with eShakti, which was the picture of accommodation and promptness.

It didn’t even have to do with the explosion experiment I tried on my hair (note to self: twisted bun curls are for people who don’t already have {oodles and oodles of} curly hair) and resulted in this rather unruly mess:

burn curls

(And, yes, I realize this doesn’t look so bad. I wish I’d managed to capture the volume as it truly came across in real life, but none of my cell phone pics did it justice).

No, the problem had nothing to do with either dress or hair or shoes and everything to do with the fact that Ezra came down with a virus the night before Easter Sunday and was running a 102 fever all that day. He was still feeling yucky as of last night, so I’m hoping it all passes very soon.

Anyhoo, I went ahead and threw on the outfit I would have worn and had the hubby snap some pics so you guys could see it, but nobody else got dressed up in their fancy duds, which means we are going to be the spiffiest-looking family at this week’s Sunday-after-Easter service because—by golly!—my children are wearing those coordinated outfits I used numerous coupons to buy (my mom, who knows the trouble I went through to find the twins’ matching shoes in their size, is laughing right now).

So, as a former teacher, I feel like I need to wrap up this rambly review with a grade for eShakti.

And I give them an A+.

Truly.

The clothing quality is great (easily equal to many a similar dress I have tried on at Anthro or LOFT), the customer service was excellent, and my husband loved the dress too! Bonus!

Which is why I’m so excited to have them as a new sponsor! Woot!

(This in no way benefits me as I am not an affiliate, but I just noticed that they have a $25 “New Customer” coupon on the homepage of the website, just in case you find something that you just can’t live without and want a little discount).

Disclaimer: I received a dress to review from eShakti, but all opinions (including the gushing) expressed herein are 100% my own.

  1. Howdy! I understand this is somewhat off-topic but I had to ask.
Does managing a well-established website like yours require a large amount of work?
I am completely new to operating a blog however I do write in my diary
everyday. I’d like to start a blog so I will be able to share my personal experience and thoughts online. Please let me know if you have any ideas or tips for new aspiring bloggers. Thankyou!

Look into my blog – купить авиабилет до австралии

  2. I love Noonday… their products and what they stand for! It would be so hard to choose what to spend the gift card on, but I am loving deep purple lately, so the Violet Horn Bracelet would probably be my choice. The bowls are beautiful too!

  3. I like the small cross necklaces. I would use the gift certificate towards one of them. I have 3 eShakti dresses. The fit is fantastic and the workmanship is wonderful. I’m the oppisite of you I always go for the calf length and then add inches to my height so my dresses just brush the top of my ankles.

  4. You look beautiful in that dress! I have always wanted to order one from eShakti but haven’t taken the plunge. I love the dress you chose 🙂 Bummer that Simon is sick! Hope he is feeling better soon and that the others stay healthy! That hair pic is too funny…I tried those curls once….notice I said once….haha!

So many lovelies on the noonday site….I’d choose the chevron dangle earrings or the layered leaves necklace. Both are just awesome! And how amazing that they are helping so many 🙂

  5. I really like the Collector’s Seed Bead necklace at Noonday & can think of so many outfits to wear it with. This is a gorgeous dress that you have on & I will certainly be checking out the eShakti site.

  6. I hope you have a fab Sunday in the outfits you worked so hard for. And that Ez is feeling better soon (poor little dude).
I had a little look around Noonday and I fell in like with The D’Orsay Bangle and those printed teatowels (especially the dots one!)… and then I got sad because it looks like they only post to the US and Canada. So I’m going to have to go and console myself (don’t get excited – I’m just gonna go to bed – it’s nearly 11pm here and my baby will wake before I’m ready for him!)
Enjoy the last couple of days till the weekend! 🙂

  7. i have wanted a dress from there for for EVER….. *sighs*

If i won the gift certificate to noonday, though, I would TOTALLY pick….
    that little iron love bird….

    *sigh*

And then the nesting rectangular wooden hand carved trays. LOVE!

    but seriously… I may have to buy that bird if i don’t win… I NEED it… *sigh*

  8. I would buy the Ruth necklace for my mom Ruth for mothers day. She is my inspiration and my best friend.

  9. I’m sorry to hear that your little boy got sick, and derailed all the Easter plans. I sure hope he feels better soon, and I loved your comment about how you’d just now be the best coordinated Sunday after Easter family 🙂

  10. Isn’t it Murphy’s law that someone always gets sick when events are happening? It is here anyway! I love the stacked arrows necklace amongst many other things:) Thanks!

  11. I’m so glad you introduced Noonday Collection on your blog! I had never heard of it before, and I am in LOVE! With their merchandise, yes…but with their purpose and their message, even more so! 🙂

  12. I’m kind of dead set on getting that Crocheted Bracelet one way or the other….it’s A-DORABLE and I can easily see it with a long gray maxi of mine and a pretty turqoise top I recently got and haven’t wore yet! LOVE their bracelets!

  13. I love all of the scarves….I would have a hard time choosing. Since I live in WI, I can easily wear them from September-early June! -Tiffany/Dayspringdawning

  14. I love the Mukisa necklaces, the seed bead necklace, and the statement bracelets from Noonday! So pretty!

  15. I love the dress! It’s so cute and pretty! I’ll have to go check out eShakti now!

As for the Noonday giveaway, I really really love the Nobility Knotted earrings. They are so unique, and I go for unique stuff!

  16. I hope your family is feeling better soon! It is so hard when your babies (even the big ones) are sick! As always, you look gorgeous, Abbie! I can’t wait to see the pics of everyone all dolled up.

Ooo… What would I do with the money? Well, I would probably bankrupt my husband because I can’t choose just one… I’ve narrowed down my list (in order): Elizabeth (with elbow sleeves), Retro Style Color block (with short sleeves), Soft Indigo Print Cotton Frock (with short sleeves), Vintage Denim Chambray (with short sleeves).

I love hearing from you guys!
