Oh, y’all. I am so blessed by your response to yesterday’s post. To know that I have that kind of back-up and to hear from some of you that you’ll be praying for me too? So, so exciting! I am so ready to see how God changes our hearts and blesses our husbands this month!

P.S. If you’re not married but still want to participate, feel free to choose somebody or multiple somebodies who could use some encouragement this month and jump on in! Yes, you’ll have to modify some of the specifics for the daily challenges, but the way I see it, encouraging others is always a good thing (and I bet they’d agree).

P.P.S. Oh! And someone much more tech-savvy than I asked if I was going to choose a hashtag for our challenge so that if you want to join in on the Instagram accountability updates that I mentioned yesterday, you can tag your posts, and we can all see how we are doing. And I thought, “That’s fantastic! Now, what in the world would the hashtag be?” And in a moment of complete originality and brilliance, I decided to use: #30daystohappyhubby

I know, right? That took a lot of thought.

Anyhoo, just in case you’re not familiar with how hashtags work, if you post a picture of, for example, a note you wrote your husband or a sweet memory with him or a meal you cooked, etc., then you’ll caption it however you want and add our #30daystohappyhubby hashtag so that, whenever someone else wants to see how all us Husband Encouragers are doing, they can just search for that tag, and every post under it will show up.  Make sense? I think it’ll be loads of fun to see what kind of creative ideas we all come up with. I’m ready to be inspired!

P.P.P.S. Several of you expressed doubt about knowing how to do this right or whether it would work. And I completely get that. But I really think the thing here is obedience. Just do it! It’s going to be a little weird for me because my husband knows I’m doing it this time, which means he’ll know why I’m making extra efforts, but I’m just going to push through the awkwardness and do what I know God is calling me to do. And, as far as knowing what to do, the challenge outline is awesome about giving you guidelines and even specific suggestions for how to accomplish each day’s goal. It doesn’t have to be huge or momentous every time (or ever). Even just a hug and a, “You’re so amazing at _____________” can go a long way.

P.P.P.P.S. ……nope, I done.

…………………………………………………………………………………………………….

Moving on to today’s order of business (which is mondo-trivial in comparison with bettering our marriages) it’s been a while since we’ve done a round of Thrifted or Grifted. And I thought it might be time to bring it back!

Thrifted or Grifted is a silly little fashion game I came up with in which I wear two similar ensembles, and you test your thrifting savvy by deciding whether an outfit is:

A) 100% Thrifted: (adj.)—previously loved and therefore ridiculously cheap…aka Secondhand

OR

B) 100% Grifted: (adj.)—swindled or cheated…aka Retail (NOTICE THE “R” IN GRIFTED! SOMETIMES, I GET EMAILS FROM PEOPLE WONDERING WHY I DO A GAME ABOUT “GIFTED” CLOTHES! : ))

…and then you vote and leave me comments telling why you chose the one you did!

(Disclaimer: No, I don’t actually think you’re getting ripped off every time you pay retail, but I do believe that if you can’t tell the difference, you shouldn’t have to pay for it).

If you’re a Thrifted or Grifted pro, then you know the drill—squint really hard, roll some paper into a tube as a telescope, poll your neighbor’s pets…do whatever it takes for you to feel fully satisfied that you have sufficiently scoured each outfit for telltale signs of thriftedness (WRINKLES DON’T COUNT!) and then comment away telling me why you chose which one you did.

The commenter I find most entertaining (there’s nothing fair or random about it! ; )) will get 5 free entries into our upcoming giveaway, which is gonna be BIG (Think Mother’s Day, and you’re on the right track)!

So…

Is it?

Once you think you’ve got it, cast your vote below, but don’t forget to leave a comment explaining why your chose what you did. That’s the bestest part of all!

  1. I am still confused about the 30 das for the hsb. are we receiving a daily challenge via email ?

    1. There IS a daily challenge, and you can receive it via email if you choose to do it that way, but you have to sign up for it yourself since the challenge, although we are all doing the challenge together, it comes from a different website called Revive Our Hearts. I included the link to the challenge in the other posts about it, but I’ll include it here too:

      https://www.reviveourhearts.com/articles/30-day-husband-encouragement-challenge/

That’s the link to the entire challenge.

Here’s the link to the email sign-up:

  2. A is clearly thrifted. It’s too close to current trends … which means you are MESSing with us, Girlfriend! And the shoes are a hair too big. Yep. I SAW that. xoxox

  3. I picked B as thrifted. Because of the cut of the skirt and the shoes. But then again most of the time I am wrong. But not to worry my dear, as cute as you are,you look great in both outfits.

  4. They are both adorable but I choose A to be the Grifted one simply because your earrings match your toenails. I just don’t have the kind of foresight to coordinate like that!

  5. Maybe it was the shoes, the colour of the skirt, the frill on the top…. all said to me…. vintage, thrifted, unique… which leads me to B. I do love this game, even though I am often wrong. I love that you are not obsessed with fake tan… here in austraia all the young girls, spray tan themselves to a unique colour!! My daughter is very fair like you. Abbie, you are a great inspiration that you can be fair skinned and look beautiful. cheers Celina.

  6. Oooo Abbie!!! This was a TOUGH one!! I was going with “B” because I thought the shoes look vintage, but I thought the belt looks like a color Target has right now. In “A” I thought the belt was thrifted but NOT the shoes…SOoooo (drumroll please): I chose “A” as thrifted…wait…were we supposed to be looking at the shirt and skirt??? All I focused on were the accessories??? Sheesh…no way I’ll get it right 🙂

All I REALLY know is there is no way you bore 5 kids with a belly that flat, a shirt tucked in and a belt on. You go girl 😀

  7. I love thrift stores and when I go I mainly find more vintage items I know I will not see half of my little town wearing! The skirt and shoes on B definetly look a little vintage. Both outfits are very cute and yet again with a body loke yours what doesn’t look good on you? Beautiful momma!

  8. I’m going with A as being thrifted only because the style of the skirt doesn’t look as current as B. Both are super cute. My current outfit looks like a drowned rat, I’m a nanny and told my girls I wasn’t swimming. They both just cannonballed into the deep end and drenched me to the bone. Glad it’s a warm Florida day. 🙂

  9. Usually I pick the one I like the most (and am typically right), but I’m going against my instincts and picking B today. The shoes are the major decision maker for me.

I’ll probably be wrong, but either way you look great in both outfits!

  10. hmmmm………….this is tricky. I said that A was thrifted, only because the earrings in B look kinda like bauble earrings which are really big right now. But I’m always wrong, and you always look cute! 🙂

  11. I think A is thrifted because the belt on B is trendier and more current! I think. Maybe. Perhaps. Um, I don’t know.

I love hearing from you guys!
