Good morning, friends, and HAPPY FRIDAY!

My blogging week has not turned out quite like I’d hoped due to pretty much constant distractions (aka: those small people that live with me), an entire unplanned day in “town” (note: Target is fun…until you’re stranded there for 2 1/2 hours with three little girls because the tire place where you dropped your van off is run by males who clearly didn’t understand that when you said: “We’re going to walk to Target, and we’ll come back as soon as you’re done,” you really meant: “My sanity is in your hands; handle it gently”),  and dark, dreary impossible-to-take-decent-pictures-of-anything weather.

I feel like the Lord is tugging at me to be more flexible. To say “Mama, will be there in just a minute when she finishes  _________” less and “Okay, let’s read now,” more. It’s a hard lesson for me—not because I’m such a rigidly structured person (I’m not) but because I am selfish. I want to do what I want right now, with no distractions, even though I was the one who birthed five of the cutest ones I’ve ever seen.

I’m getting a little better at it each most days, which is why, when I couldn’t quite get the latest Project Elephant photographed to show you this week, I shrugged (reluctantly) and told myself it was okay. You’d probably (hopefully) understand and be back next week.

So, in light (or is it dark?) of the dreariness (and cold! Wednesday’s high: 78. Yesterday’s: 38) that prevented me from getting good picture-taking light, I hopped on Picmonkey and made a few printables…for me…and for you too, if you like.

I’m still finishing up my Christmas decor (I definitely don’t go all out, but I like a few touches here and there), and I didn’t have anything I loved to pop in some frames in my living room. So, I whipped these up, and now our most often used room in the house feels a little more festive.

If you’d like to print some of your own, simply right-click and save the image to your computer. It’s already sized correctly to print to scale as an 8X10.

“He who has not Christmas in his heart will never find it under a tree.” So, so good. Oh, how I desire to imprint this on my children’s hearts (and my own) as I see them dazzled by yet another must-have toy or gadget every time we go in a store.

Also good (aka: amazing) is Isaiah 9:6—”For unto us a child is born…and he will be called: wonderful counselor, mighty God, everlasting father, prince of peace.” It gives me goosebumps pretty much every time I hear it (especially from the mouth of babes).

I made one with traditional Christmas colors:

And another with a bit of a funkier flare.

Oh, and let’s not forget good ol’ “Merry Christmas” (no “Seasons Greetings” or “Happy Holidays” for me, thankyouverymuch). Such a joyous phrase!

Or, for the neutral-lovers, gray and blue.

How could I pass up the chance for a great quote (by Hamilton Wright Mabie) with a little bit o’ chalkboard art?

conspiracy of love

I’m off to frame mine (I think I’ll start with #1 and the funky version of #2).

I hope you have somewhere you could use one of these too!

P.S. Please tell me I’m not the only one who struggles with this whole schedule flexibility business…
