Hey everybody, and welcome to Blogging Around the CHRISTMAS TREE!

Hope you’re ready to link up your festive, sparkly, funky, country, whatever-y trees!

Because I can’t wait to see them!

And, of course, I realize that this is the part where I show you my tree first.

But, honestly, that’s a bit daunting, since I know how crazy creative and talented you folks are.

Still, the point is not to have the prettiest tree (I’m sure I won’t) but instead one that brings a smile to your face and helps you to focus on the true meaning of Christmas.

Yesterday, when I showed you our special breakfast Christmas-scape, I mentioned that I love Christmas trees because they are such great symbols of Jesus’s sacrifice on a tree, which is the entire reason he came to this earth and, in turn, the entire reason we have a Christmas to celebrate!

So…daunting or not, I’m thrilled that I get to host this theme because it really is my favorite.

Without further ado, I give you…

Our tree:

f

It’s a hodgepodge of gifted ornaments (my mom usually gives me some new ones each Christmas), some boutique ornaments that I scored on mega-sale at a specialty store in my hometown, and these super-easy glitter bird ornaments I showed you how to make a few weeks back:

The large copper globes with the hand-painted and glittered flowers are by far my fave, not only because they’re gorgeous but because they were originally $13 (THIRTEEN!) a pop, and I think I maybe paid $2 for each one.

I couldn’t resist taking advantage of the opportunity to get a little more mileage out of my suuuuper classy duct tape Christmas wreath, especially since it matched the warm, metallic color scheme so well.

The star tree-topper is new this year…well, new to us from—where else?—Goodwill, where I was assured that it would actually work. So I paid my $2, took it home, plugged it in (with my eyes squinched shut and my fingers crossed), and—thank goodness—it worked!

No more squashy, 6-year-old bow-topper!

The ribbon was another awesome steal from the same boutique where I found the ornaments and would have cost me $60 if I’d paid full price (I paid $5).

My “tree skirt” consists of a very large swath of fabric (that I will eventually use to recover some chairs) folded and draped around the base of the tree.

You might recognize these fun tree-shaped boxes from yesterday’s Christmas-scape post. They sure do look cute lounging around under the tree.

And is there anything better than snuggling on the couch with your husband by Christmas-tree light?

Not too much I can think of.

Mmmmmmm….

Huh…what?

Sorry, got a bit lost in the thought, there.

Okay, so enough about me and my tree!

I want to see what you’ve been up to!

P.S. Don’t forget to grab a button from the sidebar (we have ONE more theme on Monday—Christmas Yummies with The Lovely Cupboard!), and if you like what you see around here at Five days…5 ways, I’d be thrilled if you’d follow along or subscribe for daily updates.

I love meeting new blogging friends!

  7. That is such a fun and beautiful tree! I agree, it should be something that makes you smile.. on our tree for the past few years, for a topper we’ve used this gigantic cardboard dollar tree star that always tilts.. looks so dorky but it’s irresistible and funny!
