Round these parts for Move-it Monday, we like to talk about exercise or tackling projects or, sometimes, just simply moving stuff around.
But sometimes, it’s fun to look, not at what needs to be done, but at what’s already been done.
And so, in the grand tradition of year-end blogging, I give you: Five days…5 ways’ top 10 most popular posts of 2012.
{In reverse order}
10.
Not too surprisingly—since this was definitely the year of the twin around these parts—my {shocked and shocking} announcement that there were not one but TWO baby girls in my belly grabbed your attention and squeaked onto the list at #10.

You were also pretty big fans of my plans for Della’s big girl room. And I promise that I’ve done more than just plan. Almost every element from the idea-board above is in place in her room, but the finishing touches are my nemesis. I’m great at getting rooms 85% of the way done, and then the thought of getting all the details just so pretty much wears me out. I promise a Della Big Girl Room Reveal very soon, though. Pinky promise, in fact.

The 30 Minute Goodwill Challenge {Round 3}
It’s a little weird to think that I was 3 months pregnant with the twins in this pic (how time has flown!). But that’s not really the point of this post. The point was that I got that fun outfit (plus quite a few others) in a 30 minute speed-thrifting session at Goodwill. And you guys like it!

Honestly, I would have been a little miffed if this hadn’t made the top 10, After all, I carried those little girls for 39 weeks and 4 excruciating days and was in labor with them for 5 days (sort of). So, you darn well better have liked the story of how they finally made their entrance! : )

I think this was my only room reveal of 2012, which makes me a terrible home-blogger. Good thing I never claimed to be one. But considering that it’s squarely in the middle of the list, I guess I’d better get after finishing up all the details of my many 85% done rooms because you guys obviously are fans of the room reveal. (Me too, by the way).

The 30 Minute Goodwill Challenge {Round 1}
This was the inaugural run (sort of literally) of this crazy speed-thrifting experiment of mine, and even I can’t believe all the good loot I scored!

Since I’m going backwards, I’m kind of stealing the thunder from my #1 post, but you guys seemed to appreciate the sequel as well.

How to Build a House From Scratch
It kind of blew my mind when I actually typed out the process that went through to transform a tree-clogged wilderness into our dream home, using nothing but our bare hands and a hammer (okay, so maaaaaaybe there might have been a few more tools involved), but even now, I am amazed that God has blessed us with such an amazing place to live.

Anthropologie Trinket and Treasure Candlestick Knock-off
I don’t know what y’all liked most about this post—was it my rambly diatribe about what a penny-pinching skinflint I am, the fact that I made these candlesticks for $5 each when Anthro wanted $400 (fooooooour huuuuuundred????), or was it the actual candlesticks themselves? Who knows? But they came in at #2 on the list. So you must’ve liked something.
AAAAAAAAND the #1 most popular 5D5W post from the illustrious year of 2012 was {drum roll, please}:
#1
How to Paint a Washing Machine
There was no competition here, folks. In fact, if you’d have put this post up there against any of the others, it would have been a blogging bloodbath. At least so say 50,000 repins on Pinterest (you can follow me here).
So, were there any trends?
Yup.
You liked it when I talked about twins, ran like a crazy woman through Goodwill, and showed you bits and pieces of my house—all of which are pretty representative of who I am.
Well done, you.
I can’t even begin to express how much I’ve loved getting to know you guys over the last year and sharing my life with you, and I look forward to many more fun thrifting, DIY-ing, twin-picture displaying adventures to come!
HAPPY New Year!
I leave you with these words of encouragement as you enter 2013:
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Love the verse you closed with. Great posts. I, too, was a fan of the painting your washer and dryer posts! And, of course – more importantly – the birth story of the twins! Happy New Year.
Happy New Year! Best wishes to you and your family for a great 2013. Love reading your blog. The poka dot washer and dryer post was great.
For me it all started with the polka dot washer dryer post… you see Kandee mentioned it and it looked so fantastic, I went and looked further, and then I discovered your other posts, and then I became a convert to FIVE DAYS FIVE WAYS, and have been on the train ever since… 🙂 P.s. its a good train, I don’t want to get off any time soon. cheers from down under. 🙂
Happy new year Abbie! Loved every one of these posts! My faves have to b the twin posts followed closely by the goodwill and DIY……love it all! Just rang in the new year with the munchkins at home complete with banana splits and a balloon drop countdown at 8:00! We rocked it! Many blessings in the new year!
