1.
The Weather
Which was absolute perfection (nice and cool in the mornings and evenings, and a high of low 80’s during the day).
2.
The FOOD
{Breakfast at the Renaissance Hotel in Schaumburg…this doesn’t even include a picture of the to-order omelet the chef made fresh for me}
{Lunch at Navy Pier}
{Dinner at Wildfire}
And this is only a sampling.
(We ate our fancy meal at Wildfire the night before our anniversary, and Shaun wouldn’t let me take a picture of the Arby’s meal we ate on the actual day. : ) I enjoyed it thoroughly, though. Their Market Fresh Turkey Sandwich is YUM!).
3.
Navy Pier
I know. I’m such a tourist. But it really was enjoyable to meander down the boardwalk and take in all the colorful sights and sounds.
4.
The Bean
Okay, so now I am a total tourist, but a big, shiny sculpture made of real silver is pretty impressive, I must admit.
Plus, it makes for some pretty psychedelic photos (we’re right smack dab in the middle of that last one. Can you spot us?
5.
The Shedd Aquarium
With architecture like this:
Frogs like this:
{Have you ever seen a more disgusted expression?}
And fish like this:
{I have no idea what the official names of either were, but I immediately dubbed them “Snookie Fish”}
…it was well worth the $8 a piece we paid to tour the ground floor.
All in all, it was an absolutely perfect day to trek through the city’s string of beautiful parks, stroll the Magnificent Mile (shopping district), marvel at the cool buildings, and just generally enjoy the sunshine and the beauty of the day.
All of which made it an anniversary I won’t soon forget.
What about you guys?
Any cities that stand out as must-visit places or spots you’re hoping to get back to soon?
I have never played Where’s Waldo with a better looking couple.

I’m so jealous! I have been begging my boyfriend for the past four years to take me to Chicago and we still have not gone!! We’re only 4 hours away, too! Ah well.
P.S. I am now drooling from looking at the amazing food! Yum!
Chicago looks awesome! I’ve never been there but would love to go!!! As far as great cities, San Diego is a must, and Boston as well! I’m a CA girl but hubby and I took a trip to Boston a couple years ago and it was so great!! 🙂
Dude, I love me some Chicago. My hubby got to work there for a few months a couple of years ago- and man, did we have fun! It is a fantastic city. Looks like you guys had a great time! 🙂

We love Chicago so much too! Pretty much for all the reasons you listed:-) And hooray for staying in Schaumburg…we used to live right next door to there!
Thank you for such a beautiful tribute to my city! Okay, I wasn’t born here but my husband was. But I’ve been here for close to 20 years … and my kids are true blue born and raised in the city of Chicago kids. And I’m proud for them!
🙂

LOVE Chicago! Giordano’s deep dish pizza and Garret’s Chicago mix popcorn are a must when we visit. One of my favorite all time cities. So glad you enjoyed your trip and anniversary!
I’ve never been to Chi-town but it is someplace I really want to visit. You look so great! I love the navy stripped top with white shorts and yellow accessories.
I really enjoyed gatlinburg Tennessee!
There’s really a lot to do there!
