Last week was intense, y’all. I didn’t keep track, but I probably spent something like 20+ hours researching/writing/talking about/answering emails about/”etcetera-ing” about my posts.

Plus, I was gone a lot more than usual, which means that my house is suffering. Pretty much every room has something at least a little off-kilter. Which means MAJOR catch-up this week.

Plus, I have TWO fitness launches to cram choreography and practice in for.

Plus, Shaun’s birthday is on Friday.

Plus, we have friends coming to stay this weekend.

Plus, we’re hosting a Super Bowl/joint birthday party (for Shaun and my brother)/ping pong tournament (yes, I know; that’s quite a combo) on Sunday.

In other words, we’re busy. I’m pushing down the rising panic that everything won’t get done by assuring myself that…everything won’t get done. And it will still be okay.

So, what better way to start off an insanely busy week but with a nice big LIST of things that I probably won’t have time to get to at all? (Can we say masochistic?)

Because it’s been far too long since I’ve updated my Project Elephant goals. And so, without further ado, I give you:

project elephant checklist #3

Every single one of these projects will be taking place in the sitting area that I showed you in that “imperfect room reveal” a little while ago.

Here’s a visual, in case you’re wondering:

sitting room bookshelves

You can only see the tiny corner of the laundry chute in this pic, but it needs a coat of paint as well.

And then, we have:

sitting room dresser

I like the current dresser color, but it just doesn’t pop in this room, so I’m going bold (can’t wait to show you!). Also, all of that ugly technology has got to go….somewhere (still working on that; my husband is frowning right now). Also, that huge expanse of wall needs something, no? I already have quite a few things to hang gathered together, but I’m terribly about actually getting them on the wall.

And finally:window seat

This window seat doubles as storage for blankets and board games, which is great, but no one ever sits on it. Not too surprising considering how uninviting that stiff, hard board looks. It definitely needs a nice cushion with some sort of fun pattern (I have a feeling I’ll be choosing from one of these), some pillows, and some lined curtains (for that awesome, “I’m going to close these and disappear into my own little magical world of knowledge and adventure,” feeling).

So, that’s what I hope to accomplish over the next several weeks. As always, I’ll keep you posted on my progress.

And now, I’d love to know…What projects are you chomping away at this week?

Are you as busy as I am? I think I’ll be breathing a big sigh of relief come next Monday.

  1. You sound like me! Life gets ridiculously busy and I… make an “extras” list. : ) Understanding that you WON’T get it all done on time is key to survival, good job!. : ) I’m…trying not to think about goals for this week still. Bad, I know.

  2. My hubby has a birthday on Friday too! He’s going on a survival camping weekend. I just hope the soon coming snow (arriving tomorrow night) melts real quick! He’s hitting the mid fifty mark so I hope I don’t have a cranky old man for the Super Bowl! I have a china cabinet that needs a coat of paint and I’ve narrowed the color down to 3. I’ve got to get it done so I can bring my light table in to start seeds for the garden.

  3. Going to finish painting my daughters room if it kills me (and it might). We are transforming from a green jungle room to a ‘pink snow’ room and it’s taking more hours then I’d like. After that…the list runs off the page!

  4. Wow. That is a busy week. Could you just do half of your sitting area makeover this week and half next week, given all your other ‘irons in the fire’? That said, I’m working on painting my office this week. Slowly. Painfully slow, actually. But that’s another story. There is a lot I want to do with this space…but for now, just focusing on the painting because otherwise I’ll go crazy with overwhelmtion (yes, I just made up that word).

    1. Oh goodness! I’m going to be happy if I get ONE of the projects on my list for sitting area done this week. It’s definitely a one bite a time thing. With Project Elephant, the idea is to do one project per week. So, it’s definitely not all getting done this week. And…overwhelmtion…i like it! 🙂

  5. I am busy making baby things for all the ladies I know having babies this year (5 in the next few months). Aside from that, I created a schedule for making gifts for Christmas. (Maybe it’ll help me keep Christmas in my heart all year too.) I’m a bit behind already (eek!). But, if I buckle down this week, I should be able to get back on track soon.

    1. I kept reading this: “I’m busy making babies.” Hmm… slightly different context. : )

Anyway, I think this is a great idea. I actually bought several things thatt I’m going to be including in my girlfriends’ gifts next year because they were good deals. I already have my dad’s gift, and I’m planning to stockpile as I go this year and even try to wrap ahead of time. We’ll see how it goes, and I’m certainly not on a schedule, but I hope to get as much out of the way as possible so that when the actual season rolls around I can just bask as much as possible.

  6. Plant the daffodils that I should have done in Nov. clean out the greenhouse to get it ready for early spring plantings. trim back roses and raspberries. salt the gravel driveway. sew dresses for g-daughters

  7. I am attempting to get ahead with blog projects and keeping up with reading. Decor isn’t my thing, but my 14 year old son is helping me to get better at decorating things and making the most out of my limited space.

  8. Bless your heart, but I totally understand!!! Got to get back in the swing of my chores after my oldest was out of school for a whole week, Christmas party with my husbands childhood friends (yearly thing, 3 day event, and yes always after Christmas) have to but deco for my Sunday school class, and dance practice for my daughter all with 5 kids (3 that aren’t mine) lol

I love hearing from you guys!
